What is the water resistance of Long Glass Fiber reinforced Polyamide 6 material 2024-02-22



Polyamide 6 is a porous material, and its water resistance is affected by many factors, such as the quality of the material itself, the type and amount of additives, and the way it is treated during processing.

In this matter, is the heat resistance of glass fiber reinforced PA6 material excellent? Is glass fiber reinforced PA6 material heat resistant to water?


1. Introduction of PA6 materials
Polyamide 6 is a high-performance polyamide material with good physical and mechanical properties and chemical stability. Polyamide 6 has relatively high strength and stiffness, and has good wear resistance and corrosion resistance. The material is mainly used in automotive, electronics, home appliances, medical and other fields.


2. Glass fiber reinforced PA6 material characteristics
Glass fiber reinforced Polyamide 6 material is an enhanced Polyamide 6 material, which is characterized by adding an appropriate amount of glass fiber to the Polyamide 6 matrix to improve the strength, stiffness and heat resistance of the material. Glass fiber reinforced PA6 materials are usually used to manufacture high-strength and high-stiffness parts, such as automotive parts, electronic and electrical parts, medical equipment and so on.


3. Glass fiber enhanced the water resistance of Polyamide 6 material
The water resistance of glass fiber reinforced PA6 material depends on the quality of the material itself and the treatment method during processing. Under certain temperature and humidity conditions, PA6 materials will absorb water, and in many cases lead to the degradation of material properties. However, the addition of glass fiber can improve this defect of PA6 material and improve the heat resistance of water.

According to the experimental results, after soaking in water for 48 hours, the bending strength and tensile strength of the glass fiber reinforced Polyamide 6 material were only reduced by about 10%, but the Polyamide 6 material without glass fiber was reduced by nearly 50%. Therefore, it can be seen that the glass fiber reinforced Polyamide 6 material has better heat resistance to water.


In general, the glass fiber reinforced Polyamide 6 material has good strength, stiffness and water resistance. In practical applications, the selection of appropriate additives and processing methods can further improve performance and meet the requirements of various fields.
