What is LFT (Long Fiber Thermoplastics)?

LFT (Long Fiber Thermoplastics) refers to a family of high-performance long fiber reinforced thermoplastic materials designed for Injection Molding, Compression Molding, and Extrusion applications.

Unlike conventional short glass fiber compounds, LFT materials feature significantly longer fiber lengths, which are critical for achieving superior mechanical performance in final molded parts.

In LFT pellets, the glass fibers are continuously embedded within the polymer matrix, enabling excellent load transfer and dramatically improved structural performance.

Centerfill Manufacturing Technology

LFT materials are typically produced using advanced Centerfill technology, a proprietary process that ensures optimal fiber impregnation and length retention.

In this process, glass roving (GFR) consisting of thousands of filaments is introduced into a specialized impregnation system where molten thermoplastic resin fully wets and surrounds the fibers. The impregnated strands are then precisely cut into pellets.

Typical pellet length ranges from 7–25 mm, with fiber content from 20% to 70%, depending on application requirements.

PBT-LGF (Long Glass Fiber Reinforced PBT)

PBT-LGF is a high-performance thermoplastic composite made by reinforcing Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT) with long glass fibers (20%–60%).

It offers excellent toughness, improved dimensional stability, and significantly reduced warpage compared to unfilled PBT materials.

Standard pellet length is typically around 12 mm, suitable for injection molding applications requiring structural performance and precision.
