Product Information – PA12

PA12 (Nylon 12), also known as polydodecactam or polylauractam, is a long carbon chain semi-crystalline thermoplastic. It combines excellent toughness, low water absorption, high dimensional stability, temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and easy processability. Compared with PA11, PA12’s raw material (butadiene) costs only one-third of castor oil, making PA12 a cost-effective alternative for applications such as automotive fuel pipes, air brake hoses, submarine cables, and 3D printing.

Product Details

Nylon 12 contains many non-polar methylene groups, making its molecular chains flexible. Polar amide groups form strong hydrogen bonds, resulting in high crystallinity and strength. Key properties include low water absorption, excellent low-temperature resistance, air tightness, alkali and oil resistance, good mechanical and electrical properties, and self-extinguishing flame resistance.
