MXD6 Nylon
MXD6 is a crystalline aromatic polyamide resin synthesized through the condensation of m-xylylenediamine and adipic acid. Compared with conventional nylons, MXD6 offers a unique balance of high strength, rigidity, dimensional stability, and gas barrier performance.
Due to its excellent thermal and mechanical properties, MXD6 is widely used in automotive, industrial, packaging, electronics, and high-performance structural applications.
Advantages of MXD6
- High Strength & Rigidity – Maintains excellent mechanical performance across a wide temperature range.
- High Heat Resistance – High heat deflection temperature and low thermal expansion coefficient.
- Low Moisture Absorption – Minimal dimensional change and stable mechanical properties after moisture exposure.
- Excellent Dimensional Stability – Very low molding shrinkage, ideal for precision molded components.
- Superior Surface Finish – Excellent paintability and suitability for high-temperature coating applications.
- Outstanding Gas Barrier Performance – Excellent barrier properties against oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases.
Applications of MXD6 in Plastic Modification
MXD6 can be reinforced with glass fiber, carbon fiber, minerals, and advanced fillers to achieve exceptional mechanical strength and stiffness. Glass fiber reinforced grades with 50–60% filler content are commonly used in high-performance engineering applications.
Even at high glass fiber loading levels, MXD6 maintains a smooth resin-rich surface with excellent appearance quality, making it suitable for painting, electroplating, and decorative structural components.
1. Excellent Flowability for Thin-Wall Parts
MXD6 exhibits excellent melt flow properties, allowing it to fill thin-wall structures as thin as 0.5 mm, even with high glass fiber content.
2. Superior Surface Finish
The material provides a smooth, high-gloss surface appearance, even in heavily reinforced grades.
3. High Strength & Stiffness
With 50–60% glass fiber reinforcement, MXD6 achieves tensile and flexural strength levels comparable to many cast metals and alloys.
4. Excellent Dimensional Stability
MXD6 composites exhibit low thermal expansion coefficients and low shrinkage, enabling excellent reproducibility and tight dimensional tolerances.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: How should glass fiber content be selected?
A: Higher fiber content is not always better.
The appropriate reinforcement level depends on the specific performance requirements of the final product.
Q2: Can long fiber materials meet appearance requirements?
A: Long fiber reinforced materials mainly focus on mechanical performance enhancement.
For products with high appearance requirements,
material selection should be evaluated according to the specific application.
Q3: Are there special processing requirements for long fiber injection molding?
A: Yes.
Injection molding of long fiber materials requires consideration of screw design,
nozzle structure, mold configuration, and molding parameters
to minimize fiber breakage and optimize performance.
